The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which debuted in 2017 alongside the Nintendo Switch, not only guaranteed the success of the console but also reimagined one of the genre's most beloved series to produce its best installment to date. Tears of the Kingdom, its eagerly anticipated direct sequel, aims to build on that success by maintaining and improving the expansive open-world gameplay of its predecessor while also modernising it with a variety of new features. Details on those new components are harder to come by than Calamity Ganon himself, but we do know that the game's sequence of islands floating above Hyrule will encourage more vertical gaming.
2. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Rocksteady Studios' famous Arkham series made the superhero game genre proud long before Spider-Man from Insomniac Games swung in to seize the title. Bat-fans have been impatiently awaiting the British developer's return to the DC universe since that trilogy's conclusion in 2015. This year, it finally makes an appearance and invites players to unleash the chaos-creating antics of King Shark, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League adds four-player co-op to the mix in addition to building on the strong foundation of the Arkham games, making sure the good men, who have reportedly been corrupted by Brainiac, have no chance.

When one of the biggest fighting game franchises makes its long-awaited comeback with a brand-new numbered entry, anxious players will finally get the chance to let their feet and fists fly. A total of 18 new and recognisable brawlers will compete in Street Fighter 6's three specialised game modes, Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub, both locally and online. When the high-kicking sequel releases this summer, it should strike like a match-winning Hadouken thanks to improved gameplay mechanics and an improved visual presentation.
4. Diablo IV

Over ten years have passed since Diablo III players last enjoyed chopping, slicing, and casting spells, but courageous dungeon dwellers will soon be welcomed back to Sanctuary. Diablo Immortal, the franchise's free-to-play game, may have scratched the want to slay demons, but Diablo IV, which is positioned as a return to the series' thumb-blistering roots, aims to stoke that desire even further. The eagerly awaited sequel will delight fans with a long-awaited reunion with legendary, love-to-hate baddie Lilith in addition to looting, levelling, and destroying hideous animals.

More sequels, spin-offs, and remakes have been produced for Square Enix's hugely successful, long-running RPG franchise than you can throw a Buster Sword at. New mainstream entries, however, are a much uncommon beast, even though the franchise keeps fans entertained with these frequently released world-expanding offers. As a result, Final Fantasy XVI is a significant release that will undoubtedly maintain and improve the series' trademark balance of gorgeous aesthetics, intelligent combat, and unique, epic storytelling.
6. Baldur's Gate III

RPG enthusiasts will finally be able to visit the Forgotten Realms of the well-known Baldur's Gate game after waiting more than 20 years. However, the Dungeons & Dragons sequel has much more to offer than just players' long-awaited excitement. Baldur's Gate III was created by Larian Studios, the group behind the popular RPG series Divinity. This is a rare dream combination of a beloved IP with the firm most qualified to adapt it. We can't wait to party and instill some manners in those hideous mind flayers once this highly anticipated PC game has been refined over two years of fan feedback-fueled early access.

It's been over three years since the viking-themed Valhalla sank its hidden swords into us, despite the long-running Assassin's Creed franchise generally maintaining an annual release schedule. In addition to the series' comeback in 2023, Assassin's Creed Mirage will witness a big change from previous installments. Mirage promises a return to the franchise's throat-slitting roots, with sharper, more linear storytelling and stealthier gameplay. Recent chapters have included expansive open environments, branching narratives, and an action-RPG focus.
8. Redfall

Except for the blood-craving creeps prowling its streets, Redfall's titular island town is a charming New England hideaway that wouldn't look out of place in a travel guide. Fortunately, the first-person shooter's vast universe equips players with heavy weapons and teams them up with up to three vampire-slaying survivors. Though its premise may be familiar to players of previous cooperative online games, we have high hopes for it because it comes from Arkane Studios, the creative group behind the critically acclaimed Dishonoured series.
9.Alan Wake 2

Alan Wake, a 2010 cult horror hit, seemed an unlikely contender for a follow-up. The titular, haunting writer is in fact making a comeback, though, with to its recent remaster attracting a new audience and its developer Remedy Entertainment dramatically expanding its fan base as a result of the success of the creepy sci-fi game Control. Although Remedy has confirmed the game will have a more survival-horror feel than its action-focused predecessor, details on his new supernaturally tinged story are scant.
10.Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Release date: Fall 2023

This autumn, the popular, PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man franchise will have a major competitor in Insomniac Games' upcoming release of the next numbered installment, giving the Suicide Squad some stiff competition. The newest wall-crawling installment is without a doubt one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, following the outstanding 2018 title that launched the genre and the excellent 2020 spin-off with Miles Morales. The sequel pits fans against a rogues' gallery of sketchy characters, including iconic Marvel threat Venom, while also exposing them to the spandex of both Peter Parker's and Morales' Spider-Mans.
